Sebaceous Hyperplasia, An Approach to Reduce Recurrence
If only the visible parts are managed, the fundamental problem may remain.
Sebaceous hyperplasia refers to lesions that occur when sebaceous glands in the dermal layer of the skin abnormally enlarge.
In various procedures that address these lesions, a method of removing only the outwardly visible parts with a laser is often used.
In this case, it may appear improved temporarily.
However, since the sebaceous gland itself has not disappeared, there is a possibility of it protruding again over time.
We have a different perspective than this approach.
While removing the visible lesions, we manage the underlying internal causes, to alleviate concerns about recurrence.
Instead of simply addressing the outwardly visible phenomena,
we pursue methods that improve both the cause of the lesion and its visible symptoms.
For this approach, we utilize two types of equipment together.
1. Secret Agnes RF (Insulated Radiofrequency 1-pin Needle)
By directly delivering high-frequency energy to the areas with sebaceous glands,
we selectively coagulate and destroy the sebaceous glands.
Because an insulated micro-needle is used, damage to the epidermis or surrounding skin tissues can be reduced.
Its characteristic is that it delivers energy only to the desired sebaceous gland area.
This process can be a crucial step in managing the underlying cause.
2. Erbium YAG Laser (Er:YAG)
Compared to carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers, it allows for more precise depth control during ablation,
which can help precisely remove lesions protruding from the skin.
It can reduce damage to surrounding tissues, thereby lessening the burden of recovery time, and lowering the possibility of scar formation.
Depending on the patient's condition, it is also possible to combine it with a CO2 laser, to treat lesions of a wider range of depths.
There is a difference from simply removing the lesions.
Typical CO2 laser monotherapy only removes the outwardly visible parts, so the sebaceous glands within the skin remain intact, and there is a possibility of them reappearing.
Our combined treatment manages the sebaceous glands themselves and refines the surface lesions, which can help alleviate concerns about recurrence.
General Characteristics of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Sebaceous hyperplasia
may not be sufficiently treated by removing only what is visible on the surface.
By managing both internal and external skin issues together, the possibility of recurrence can be reduced.
Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
Small, round, protruding lesions on the skin around the forehead, cheeks, or nose
If the center is slightly indented, resembling a belly button
If it looks similar to a common pimple but is difficult to extract
If it doesn't disappear over time and tends to increase in number
These symptoms may not be simple skin troubles or blemishes.
It's necessary to consider the possibility that it might be *sebaceous hyperplasia*, which occurs due to excessive proliferation of sebaceous glands.

Q&A
고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.
Why is it recommended to combine Agnes treatment?
For sebaceous gland-related lesions such as syringoma or sebaceous hyperplasia, combining Agnes treatment, which targets the sebaceous glands, can have a positive effect on maintaining management effectiveness. This can contribute to reducing the likelihood of recurrence.
How long is the recovery period after the procedure?
Depending on the treatment area, attaching a regenerative tape (e.g., Duoderm) for approximately 2 weeks or more can aid in recovery.
How much pain is experienced during the procedure?
The degree of pain experienced can vary from person to person. We strive to minimize discomfort by applying anesthetic cream before the procedure.
Cautions
Results = Treatment × Aftercare. Please follow the notes below.
It is recommended to refrain from alcohol, tobacco, hot saunas, or strenuous exercise for about a week after the procedure.
