*Moles are lesions that appear when melanin-producing cells (melanocytes) in the skin abnormally proliferate in the epidermis or dermis.

While they may appear as ordinary pigmentation on the surface, the method of removal varies depending on the mole's depth and location.

The Er:YAG laser is useful for precisely refining the skin's surface. It can be used to remove shallow moles in the epidermal layer while minimizing damage to surrounding skin.

This procedure can reduce the possibility of scarring and lead to cosmetic improvements, especially for facial areas. Subsequently, the process of using a CO2 laser to thermally treat the root of the mole can help reduce the risk of recurrence by targeting melanin cells that may remain deep within. This method lowers the chance of moles reappearing from within, even if they seem to be removed on the surface.

The complementary use of a CO2 laser for finishing can be particularly helpful in situations such as:

- If the mole is slightly raised or feels thick to the touch

- If you have a history of moles reappearing in the same area

- If it is determined to be a deep dermal nevus, such as a blue or grayish-brown mole


*Flat warts are skin conditions caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They typically spread broadly and thinly in the epidermal layer and may appear as small, brownish or flesh-colored lesions. They are prone to developing when immunity is weakened and can spread to other areas through self-contact or scratching, making early management advisable.

The Er:YAG laser is suitable for uniformly removing the epidermal layer, making it highly effective for treating widely distributed flat wart lesions

when treated simultaneously. This method helps remove lesions evenly while minimizing skin damage. However, viral lesions can recur if only the surface is removed. In such cases, the additional process of applying heat around the lesion with a CO2 laser can offer clinical benefits by eliminating virus-infected cells that may remain in the epidermis and surrounding areas, thereby reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

A CO2 laser finish can be particularly beneficial in the following cases:

- When the lesion's borders are unclear, or it feels flat and widely spread to the touch. Also, for individuals with weakened immunity due to stress, lack of sleep, etc.

- If there is a history of flat warts recurring multiple times

- If lesions are present in areas frequently touched or where the virus can easily spread, such as hands or face


*Milia are small, white, pocket-like lesions that occur when keratin (a type of skin protein) accumulates within the skin. They are typically observed around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead, and unlike sebaceous cysts, they are an aesthetic concern that occurs without an inflammatory response.

The Er:YAG laser can be effective for milia removal. This laser delicately refines the skin's surface to open the thin layer of milia, helping to safely expel the trapped keratin. Finishing with gentle electrocautery using a CO2 laser after the procedure can reduce the likelihood of remaining keratinocytes proliferating and help prevent milia recurrence in the same area. However, excessive heat stimulation can cause hyperpigmentation, requiring precise intensity control.

Situations where a CO2 laser finish is particularly useful include:

- When milia repeatedly occur in the same location

- If you have experienced lesions reappearing during the recovery process after a laser procedure

- When desiring a more uniform result during skin regeneration after removing multiple milia


*Syringomas are benign skin tumors caused by the abnormal proliferation of sweat gland (eccrine) tissue in the dermis. They are characterized by multiple small, bead-like lesions typically appearing under the eyes, on the cheeks, and forehead. They are often genetically influenced or frequently found in women in their 20s and 30s.

The Er:YAG laser can precisely thin and refine the epidermis, making it suitable for treating syringomas in sensitive areas like around the eyes. This method is useful for tidying the skin surface and removing the upper part of sweat gland lesions, which can reduce the possibility of scarring or hyperpigmentation after recovery, enhancing cosmetic satisfaction. Subsequently, by applying thermal energy with a CO2 laser,

the finishing process, which involves creating micro-damage in the deeper layers of the lesion, can regulate sweat gland activity within the dermis and

may offer clinical benefits in reducing the recurrence of syringomas in the same area. However, as lesions are often deep, multiple treatment sessions may be required.

In the following cases, combining a CO2 laser finish can lead to improved treatment outcomes:

- When multiple syringomas are relatively deeply distributed under the eyes, on the cheeks, etc.

- If there is a history of syringomas recurring despite multiple laser treatments in the past

- When aiming to enhance recurrence suppression with a single procedure


*Skin tags are benign lesions resulting from the excessive proliferation of fibrous tissue and blood vessels in the dermis. They commonly occur in skin folds such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and on the eyelids, appearing as small, skin-colored protrusions. While painless, they can be irritated by friction. Generally, CO2 lasers are efficient for skin tag excision, quickly treating many lesions with excellent cutting and hemostatic capabilities. However, for small and thin skin tags, precisely refining the lesion with an Er:YAG laser followed by electrocautery of the root with a CO2 laser can help thoroughly address the skin tag tissue and reduce the risk of recurrence in that area. The thermal energy applied at this time aids in regulating the activity of fibrous cells and microvessels within the tissue.

- When skin tags are located in areas prone to friction, such as the neck or armpits

- If there is a history of skin tags reappearing in the same area after treatment

- Types of skin tags with deep or wide roots that may leave a protruding mark even after removal

How long should DuoDERM (healing patch) be applied after mole removal?





Mole removal procedures involve gentle stimulation of the skin's surface, which causes temporary changes to the skin.

Therefore, it is important to properly protect and care for the treated area.


Keeping the treated area moisturized after the procedure is especially beneficial for aiding skin recovery and reducing the likelihood of scarring.

For this reason, we recommend using Duoderm, a hydrocolloid dressing.


Duoderm helps maintain a moist environment for the wound, promoting the growth of new cells and preventing dryness that can lead to scabbing, thereby reducing the possibility of scarring.


Apply Duoderm immediately after mole removal, replace it every 3-5 days, and continue this care for at least a week.

The recommended total care period is approximately 10 days.


If Duoderm use is uncomfortable or causes an allergic reaction, apply a regenerative cream or moisturizing gel frequently to prevent skin dryness. Additionally, be sure to meticulously apply sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher and avoid touching the treated area.


Post-mole removal care is a crucial step that goes beyond simple wound protection and significantly impacts the procedure's outcome.

Negligent care can lead to scarring, so continuous attention is required even after the procedure.
